i've been thinking about a few photo projects for 2009, and realized that one I'm doing right now is easy and fun and some of you might want to play along with me! :) Especially those of you who got new cameras or camera equipment for Christmas, or those that know they would like to do some little photo project but don't know where to start!
I'm focusing on a different color each month (I'm doing blue this month. I don't know why, but January is just a "blue" month to me for some reason).
I'm just searching out blue things around my house and outside (when we dare venture outside...) and snapping away. I'm not sure yet what my finished project will be, but I'm thinking of making a big rainbow colored (but not REALLY rainbow, since it won't be in Rainbow order) collage of my yearly photos.
You could do one photo a month, and do a 3x4 collage of your 12 colors of 2009, or 1 photo a week, or 1 a day or whatever.
You could post these on your blog or your flickr, and if you want, I'll link to your project here too. :)
One of my favorite bloggy friends EVER, Suzanne, puts together these random inspiration color collages and they make me so happy. I thought it would be fun to make my own using my own photos (although I'm tempted to borrow a few flickr favorites, because the talent over there is just INSANE).

Beautiful, right? And so fun. Seriously, don't be overwhelmed by the thought of taking perfect pictures, just fun pictures of our favorite colorful things.
Okay, so if you want to play, let me know and I'll try to figure out some way of reminding everybody what colors we're focusing on and to get out there and take some pictures. :)
Ooooooooo! I'm loving this idea. I need to get better at picture taking and this would be perfect way to practice. Count me in!

I would love to join in! Since it's monthly, I can definitely keep up. I really love this idea. Now, my photos won't be up to your level in quality, but it'll be great practice :) thanks

That collage is beautiful. I want to play too, but I'm soooo not a photographer. 2009 is my year to sprout a photograpy bug. I need your (and your readers')recommendations for a good book to help me begin a photography journey. My camera is just a plain digital, nothing fancy. Don't direct me to anything that will confuse me with camera details. :-) I'm so easy to please, eh?
I'm trying to "embrace winter" so my focus is winter shots but I'll try and do the color theme too. I think this is a grand idea. I love you.

Hi Mindi...
I did something similar last year... whole month of color photos, single color for the month (if you get stuck for ideas, the albums are thumbnails on my blog). I didn't make it through the whole year though, for lots of reasons including the perfection of the photos posted by Suzanne. Isn't that silly? I just lost my inspiration when I couldn't get things looking so good.
I might join you though, for a month or two, on the colors I haven't done yet. Blue is actually one of them... I need to get over my pride, swallow my humble pie, you know the drill ;)
I decided to do a 52 weeks of Saturdays with my friend in Phoenix, thought it'd be good to see what a whole year of weekends looks like, especially given the year we're going to have around here! I know, not completely original either, but I'll let you know if it's fun...

Sounds like fun! With inspiration from Elizabeth's photo project last year, I've started "Project 365" (actually, you can call it a "blatant copy" of Elizabeth, but I so loved following her life in pictures last year). I'll try to take a few pictures in your color theme each month.

I just clicked over from...goodness, I'm not totally sure! But I love this concept and I am interested in participating. I have added your blog to my google reader so that I can keep up. I am not a professional by any means..but I LOVE photography! I'm a few weeks behind, but I think I can get up to speed with blue in no time! Thanks for doing this!
