This little girl is such a smarty pants.
She's got this amazing vocabulary and she seriously gets a HUGE kick out of learning and using new words.
She loves to watch "Word Girl" on PBS, and shares her "Word of the Day" with us as soon as she gets in the car after school.
It's fun to watch her incorporate her word of the day, and then high five herself for using it.
Last week, Ezra was being a wild animal, as usual, and Annabelle said, "Mom, Ezra's being SO frantic".
"Frantic?" I asked. "What do you mean?"
She said, "Well, hmmmm. Let me give you an example. When somebody is running around the house naked, yelling and waving his hands in the air...that's frantic. Oh, and WOOHOO! That's my word of the day! I can't wait to tell Mrs. L. how I used my word of the day!!"
So she's kind of a nerd that way too. As a fellow nerd, I LOVE it.
She's reading really well, and is earning "Book It" awards for free pizzas, which I also love. I was a "Book It" junkie when I was in Elementary School.
Yesterday, we were pulling out of our driveway to go to Annabelle's Daisy meeting, and she read the Obama sign in our window, "Change We Need". (I got it at the Obama rally last week, after much arm wrestling with one of the volunteers)
"Change We Need.... Hmmmm.... Shouldn't that say "We Need Change"? she asked.
I wasn't paying much attention, so I just said, "Nope, that's right".
"Hm. Ooookay." she said sarcastically, and then she looked out the window and muttered, " But that doesn't make ANY sense."
It made me think of this:

hee hee, Maddie has also become a Word Girl fan as of late. She also enjoys correcting my common words for "robust" words... {eyeroll} but as a fellow word nerd, it is kind of funny : )

*The yoda grammar is funny... what a smart girl!
*That sounds like a perfect example of frantic...
*I am a nerd too, so I can appreciate this...
*I LOVE book-it and I miss it! We can't do it because of the dumb Huckabee move to get rid of all the fun in school... a.k.a FOOD! I am not sure if Mena still does it, but we don't. =(
